Draw Until You Puke

Draw Until You Puke is a week-long Drink & Draw Marathon run by Melissa Stanley and Max Bare, as they run through the streets, bars, events, and museums of Chicago.

Why?
Nearly every day in Chicago there's some fantastic and low-billed sketching event happening - Melissa and Max want to find them, and attend them ALL.  Three times a year, the DUYP group will try to doodle and draw at as many public Drink & Draw events as possible in one week.

Draw Until You Puke's second installment had a schedule jam-packed with burlesque models, bar-hops, byob's, taxidermy, and sleepovers.  And: Hourly Comic Day.
It was awesome.

Day One
:
Drink & Draw @ High Dive
The week was kicked off with a casual Drink & Draw at this cozy Ukrainian Village bar.  Sketchbooks, beers, and something involving tater tots, cheese and chorizo called "Tot-chos".

Day Two
:
Drink & Draw @ Ten Cat Tavern
We'd heard this place was good for a Drink & Draw, and we were not disappointed!  The back room has good lighting, formica tables, and a classy (and warm) fireplace.

Max and Melissa switched it up and made some fun digi-illustrations!

Day Three:
BYOB Figure Drawing @ Platform Studios
We've been to Platform before as part of DUYP, and we'll keep coming back - this place is great.
A super-friendly place to participate in some professional - but laid-back and stress-free - figure drawing.

Day Four:
Atomic Sketch @ Green Eye
Can you believe this is the first time we've attended this event??  Neither can we.  Dozens of sketchbook-weidling artists all gathered in one place for a whole evening of Drink & Draw madness.

Day Five
:
Drink & Draw @ Beermiscuous
It was a Friday night, and after a long week DUYP'ers enjoyed a relaxing evening of fancy beer and art.

Day Six
:  Pukerday.  Day of Pukering.  The Marathon inside the marathon.
Saturday was exactly the sort of madness you can expect from an event planned by team "Draw Until You Puke":

10am - 1pm:  Burlesque Figure Drawing & Painting @ Stvdio480

A gorgeous way to start the day

undefined

1:30pm - 2:30pm:  Lunch break @ the ol' Steak & Egger

We needed this.

undefined

3:00pm - 5:30pm:  Let's Not Destroy Our Livers @ Bridgeport Coffee

But we could still see the bar, so it counts.

undefined

6:00pm - 7:30pm:  Drink & Draw @ Maria's Packaged Goods

Bonus:  meat pies.

undefined
8:00pm - 9:30pm:  Level Eater 5.0 D&D themed show @ Co-Prosperity Sphere
Holy shit.

 undefined

10:00pm - 2:30am: Zlumber Party @ Quimby's Bookstore
And, the beginning of Hourly Comic Day!

Yea.  So, that was a day.

Day Seven, Chicago woke up to the first snowstorm of the year.  DUYP was scheduled to spend the day drawing taxidermied friends at the Field Museum, but the museum shut down and we couldn't have gotten there anyway.  Most of Team DUYP stayed home, sketching out Hourly Comics and drinking hot cocoa. Probably also watching a football game.  Max & Melissa waded through the blizzard to a cozy, snowed-in Pub, and enjoyed one last Drink & Draw.

(Also keep your eyes peeled for a new zine from Max & Melissa containing primarily stories concocted on the final two days of DYUP. It'll be reeeeal dumb.)
